We look at the case of the Punisher, a special weapon that you can get your hands on fairly quickly in the Resident Evil 4 remake. It is only possible to obtain it through spinels, which can be retrieved thanks to the merchant’s famous requests.
Resident Evil 4’s arsenal is substantial, and to fully unlock it you’ll sometimes have to do a lot more than explore or spend your precious pesetas. This is particularly the case with the Punisher, a penetrating bullet rifle, available from Chapter 2, but only in exchange for spinels.
How do you get the Punisher?
The Punisher can only be purchased from the merchant’s special inventory, available from chapter 2 of the adventure. In it you can only spend spins obtained by exploring and, above all, as a reward for all the requests that you managed to complete. The Punisher is the very first weapon to be unlocked this way and it costs “only” 5 spins: if you’ve completed the first blue missions of the game, you should be able to get your hands on it right away. But is it a good deal?
Should you buy the Punisher?
It all depends on your playstyle. The Punisher has some cool perks up its sleeve, such as the ability to stab enemies. The upgrades are also the least expensive of all the small arms available in the game’s arsenal, but on the other hand, it’s the least powerful weapon of the lot. Later on, you can unlock his special upgrade for a ticket (which still costs 30 spins), making his piercing abilities even more powerful. Unless you are very interested in this asset, we recommend that you don’t spend your precious spins on this weapon during your first game, there really isn’t much point in doing that.
