The release of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is fast approaching and this time it’s good, we pretty much know what to expect: we hope Nintendo won’t communicate much more about its biggest Nintendo cartridge Switch of 2023. As with Zelda Breath of the Wild, Link’s famous powers were revealed in advance thanks to a gameplay video, and they promise a lot.

Retrospective

Link’s new arm allows him to use at least 4 new powers. The very first is visually similar to Cinetis, but actually allows to control time (which clearly seems to be the central theme suggested to players). Be that as it may, the manipulation allows Link to return the projectiles to their sender, with more power to make a nice map in the enemy ranks, or climb to heavenly islands by picking up the rubble that falls on the surface of Hyrule. .

Amalgam

Eiji Aonuma and his teams’ reaction to weapons that break too quickly in Zelda Breath of the Wild: Playing with different combinations of objects allows Link to build a custom arsenal by any item with any weapon. This ability allows Link to drastically increase his attack power, his durability, or even his range. Not to be confused with Emprise which we will see below, which, glue two elements together to create new and original means of transport.

Priority

Exploring a huge open world on horseback is good, but with a rocket option soapbox made from A to Z by you, it’s even better. This power applies a magical patafix to the elements of your choice and, in sequence, you can pilot your own vehicles (land or air) to conquer new territories. There are a few examples shown during the various trailers, but there are still many gray areas around the functioning of influence and what it means for world exploration.

Infiltration

The first power introduced in the game’s trailers, but Eiji Aonuma’s demo allowed us to learn more about how this power works, making exploration easier. By going under any surface, you can pierce a ceiling and be on top moments later. Here, too, the limitations of this power will have to be considered. For example, it is certainly impossible to go directly to a heavenly island in this way.

free fall

Some will think of Fortnite, while others will remember how our hero arrived in Zelda Skyward Sword in each area. As we have seen, the celestial islands are placed at different heights, and some of them pierce the sky squarely. By falling from one of these celestial platforms, Link can have a very good overview of the world of Hyrule and pinpoint his next destination on the surface in full autumn. It can then be accelerated to hit hard ground in an instant. This is a very original way to allow players to more easily map out the massive open world that awaits them between two explorations of celestial islands.
