In Hogwarts Legacy Hogwarts Legacy you will find many chests during your adventure. Chests that give rare gear, eye chests that offer a few coins, others more ordinary that give you uninteresting clothes. But the most important are the Collection chests. You can recognize them in two different ways: their shape is not at all the same as the others, and they are the only ones marked on the world map.
What do collection boxes contain?
These chests are so interesting because they can give you three highly desirable things:
- Of the sleeves magic wand to customize your magic tools,
- Summon creatures (or furniture) to decorate your Room of Requirement,
- Of the equipment attributes to add effects to your outfit in battle via the Loom.
How to easily find collectible chests?
As explained at the beginning of the article, the collection chests are indicated on the map (either directly thanks to the icon, or when you approach). However, there are some subtleties such as the puzzles where you have to follow the butterflies, the dungeons or the Room of Requirement that do not immediately indicate the chests. Below you will find all the ways to get collectible chests.
- Highlands (open world): 117 collectible chests to find
- Hogwarts : 33 collectible chests to find
- Hogsmeade : 5 collectible chests to find
- Total : 155 collectible chests to find
follow the butterflies
You need to be close enough to see the butterfly icons appear on the map, but once you do, don’t miss them! Butterflies will always lead you to a chest containing a piece of furniture or a wand handle. Note that the side quest of the same name, given by Clementine Willardsey at the Three Broomsticks tavern in Hogsmeade, you can learn more about these butterflies and get a trophy. She will ask you to go to the Forbidden Forest and follow the butterflies you find there. You also get a beautiful Planter piece of furniture for your Room of Requirement.
Full dungeons
Most of the main storyline dungeons you will visit are often filled with treasures and collectible chests. Unfortunately, some secret rooms require level 3 Alohomora and require you to return later in your adventure. When opening the map, make sure you have all the chests in each dungeon (this is indicated by hovering over the respective dungeon).
Also keep in mind that certain points of interest, such as Henrietta’s Hideout, are not required passages during the adventure, but rather during side quests.
Raid bandit camps
Bandit camps are all marked on the open world map and all have a collectible chest that you can get (gear attribute only). Once you’ve opened the chest, a little “tick” marker will tell you you’ve already been there.
Visit open world hamlets and Hogsmeade
In each of the villages in the game you will inevitably find collection chests, again marked on the map. You can usually find them in locked houses in Hamlets and Hogsmeade by using Alohomora to force the locks. Take the opportunity to reduces Also !
Search Hogwarts from top to bottom
We never run out of surprises with this gigantic castle that is full of secret passages and other puzzling doors. At school you will also find the most collection boxes: there are 33! Thoroughly search the rooms behind closed doors, use the network of toads to get to the roof, go through the carpet of the werewolf or pick up those hidden in your terrariums (3 for each of the greenhouses).
Finally, note that collectible chests are not found in treasure chest dens.
