Diablo 4’s Sorcerer allows you to play in very different ways, whether you change the element or the type of spells. In this case, we recommend using an ice construct, specialized in freezing enemies completely, before exploding them into devastating shards that scatter. It is far from the only ice build possible, but it is certainly one of the most effective.

Gameplay and building principle
Almost all of the build’s DPS are based on Ice Shards that will pierce enemies and destroy frozen enemies, causing more shards to appear. With this build you can turn hordes of enemies into icicles in moments. Thanks to the build defense and the vulnerable effect, applied by its various skills, it is also effective against bosses, even if it is not its specialty. Builder link.
Active skills
Here’s our suggested choice of skills in the skill bar. Also keep in mind that there are alternatives in the choice of skills. Whenever possible, look for items that give bonus points to these skills, especially Ice Shards.
Passive bonuses
We only list the main passives, required for the build to function, that are used to reach the next level points requirement. There are other useful passives.
Enchantment
At level 15, you unlock a quest that allows you to choose a spell that passively grants you a specific bonus. You are spoiled for choice, the possibilities are endless. Please note that you must put at least 1 point (via equipment if necessary) into a skill in order to activate it. To make certain choices profitable, the selected spell must be enhanced as much as possible, when it is a copy activated by the spell (eg: Ice Nova, Fireball, Meteor). Here are a few suggestions:
Legendary powers and aspects
Powers are no longer necessarily tied to specific items, you can extract and administer them through the Occultist and the Power Codex. Here’s a list of the main powers you’ll need for this build:
- Ice shards pierce multiple targets, losing power each time.
- When you hit a controlled target, there is a chance that the effect will be transferred to another enemy.
- Increases critical hit chance against injured enemies and duration of control effects.
- Extends control effects and increases damage dealt to uncontrollable enemies.
- Increases damage while being protected by a barrier.
- You deal more damage to vulnerable targets when under the influence of a barrier.
