A member of the Dutton family ends up in Africa in “1923”. Kevin Costner, who won an Oscar and an Emmy for “Dances with Wolves,” stars in your dad’s favorite TV show, the Emmy-nominated neo-western drama Yellowstone.
Taylor Sheridan’s hit series about the Dutton family and their beloved Montana ranch debuted in 2018. Since then, spin-offs have appeared left and right.
From 1883 in 2021 to 1923 in 2022, fans of the franchise eat it like a horse eats oats. The second spin-off is a prequel to Yellowstone with many big names and a sequel to 1883.

In 1923, Harrison Ford, who was nominated for an Oscar for Blade Runner, and Helen Mirren, who won an Oscar for The Queen, play a new generation of the Dutton family as they explore the early 1900s in the mountainous west.
But one of the Duttons, who was just a boy in 1883, has a story that takes place outside the US. In fact, it takes place in hot Africa.
Who is Spencer Dutton in ‘1923’?
‘Violence has always haunted this family’ Elsa Dutton (Isabel May) says through voiceover in early 1923. “And where it doesn’t follow, we chase it.” As she utters those words, the audience is introduced to an adult Spencer Dutton.
Spencer Dutton, the cousin of Jacob Dutton (Harrison Ford), is played by Brandon Sklenar in “The Big Ugly.” He is a troubled World War I veteran who goes to a five-star safari lodge in Nairobi, Africa to kill dangerous animals. After all, wide-eyed tourists going on an African safari should be kept safe from Mother Nature’s gifts.

Spencer’s time in the Great War must have had an effect on him as he keeps getting bad memories. In Episode 1, however, this is the least of his worries. The end of the episode puts his life in grave danger.
Spencer is chasing a large leopard in the middle of the night when another animal follows him from behind. The final shot of the episode is shot from Spencer’s point of view as a spotted cat leaps toward the camera. It is heavily implied that Spencer is badly attacked, but is he still alive?

Brandon Sklenar will appear in all eight episodes of 1923 Season 1 IMDB. This means that Spencer will most likely pass the test.
As one of the veteran’s colleagues yells “Spencer, there are two!” just before the second leopard strikes, it’s possible that someone will shoot the animal just in time.
