Sofia Vergara’s absence as a judge has been questioned by viewers of America’s Got Talent: All-Stars. The first episode of the show, also known as AGT: All-Stars, aired on January 2 with Terry Crews as the host.
The show is an eight-week battle for the title of ultimate champion and 60 acts from various Got Talent franchises around the world will compete.
Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel are also judges, as is Simon Cowell, who is also the show’s executive producer. The three of them were on the most recent season of America’s Got Talent along with Modern Family’s Vergara, who did not return for All-Stars.
Although the judging panel for All-Stars was set in October 2022, viewers were upset that Vergara didn’t show up. They had expected to see the usual America’s Got Talent panel back together.
Why isn’t Sofia Vergara in “AGT: All-Stars”?
For the season 17 premiere of America’s Got Talent, in which Vergara served as a judge, she and the other judges taped the performances for AGT: All-Stars in Summer 2022.
After replacing Gabrielle Union, who left the program in November 2019, the actress, who turned 50 in 2022, has been a judge on the NBC talent show since season 15, which aired in 2020.

So far, she has done well in the show. In September 2022, her Golden Buzzer act, Mayyas, was declared the winner of Season 17.
Parade says Vergara will likely return for season 18 of America’s Got Talent, but she was unavailable for the All-Stars spin-off because she “committed to an acting job.”
On her IMDb page, Vergara’s next project is listed as the Netflix miniseries Griselda, in which she will play notorious Colombian drug trafficker Griselda Blanco.

The show will also feature Alberto Guerra, Camilo Jiménez Varón and Vanessa Ferlito. It is currently in post-production and is expected to release in 2023.
Vergara hasn’t said anything about the new AGT show on Instagram or Twitter yet, but fans were quick to ask her where she was during the first episode of AGT: All-Stars because she wasn’t there.

A fan posted on Twitter: “#AGTAllStars not so good without Sofia.” While another wrote: “Where is Sofia Vergara??? Did I miss something?? #AGTAllStars.”
“I will not watch a minute without Sofia. @SimonCowell #AGT,” added a third. While a fourth posted: “@RyanBartholomee That’s me [loving] @agt AllStars tonight! I only miss the beautiful Sofia on the jury panel. #AGTAllStars #AGT.”

During the first episode of AGT: All-Stars, two acts earned a spot in the finals. Light Balance Kids, who first appeared on AGT in 2019, got the season’s first Golden Buzzer after their upbeat performance impressed Mandel, who gave away his Golden Buzzer spot during the episode.

Season 15 finalists, the Bello Sisters, then took second place in the finals after winning the “superfan” vote. Each week during the show, there are two places in the finals, one from the Golden Buzzer and one from the super fan panel. Every week, the remaining eight acts that are left have to go.
