At a house party, which the actress revealed to ELLE in 2012, Toth saved the wife of a very drunk man who was one of Toth’s friends. Witherspoon recalled it “just happened out of the blue.”
“This drunk man was so fooling himself by hitting me and yelling at me. You don’t know me, he said with a grin, pointing a finger in her direction. I replied, ‘Yes, I know. I do not know you!'”
Toth then ducked in. “Jim came over and said, ‘Excuse me friend. He just broke up with someone,” the actress continued. “Jim was a really good friend, he pulled him out of that situation. That’s just kind of who he is, a good person.”

In December 2010, almost 10 months after the couple’s relationship was official confirmed, suggested Toth Witherspoon. The couple’s then-representative told Us Weekly, “They’re extremely happy.” A few months later, in March 2011, they got married on their private farm in California.
Ava Phillippe, Witherspoon’s daughter from her previous marriage to Ryan Phillippe, served as maid of honor and Deacon Phillippe, her son, acted as ring bearer. For the wedding, the actress donned a custom-made Monique Lhuillier dress.
