Michael Charles Leach, head coach of the Mississippi State Bulldogs and two-time National Coaching Award winner, now takes up his position. New sources indicate that the coach has just been admitted to hospital, although the exact reason for his admission is still unknown.
Leach was reportedly hospitalized after experiencing “personal health issues”, and reports indicate he was treated at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He fell ill at home and had to be sent to hospital by ambulance. The university has not commented on the subject other than to say that Mike, Sharon and their family are in their thoughts and prayers.

Who is Mike Leach?
As a football coach, Mike Leach has managed teams at some of the most prestigious schools in the country. Prior to attending Mississippi State University, he held positions at Texas Tech University and Washington State University. On March 9, 1961, Leach was born in Susanville, California, to parents Frank and Sandra Leach. Leach claims Cody, Wyoming as his birthplace despite being born in California.
Cody High School is where he graduated and now works. As a result, he enrolled at Utah’s Brigham Young University. Leach joined the rugby team instead of the football team, but he always sat among the football players and watched them play. After four years of school, he received his bachelor’s degree in American Studies.
Mike holds a Master of Science in Sports Science from the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Alabama, which he received in 1988.

Later, Ross Dellinger, a reporter for Sports Illustrated, said Leach was in serious condition. His colleague at 247Sports, Robbie Faulk, tweeted an update saying Mike “needed a miracle,” asking followers to pray for him. Director of Public Affairs Sid Salter released the following statement: “Football coach for Mississippi State University Mike Leach had a health scare in his home this morning.
“Because of this problem, it was decided to have Coach Leach taken by ambulance to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. That’s the latest we’ve heard about Coach Leach, and MSU would like to say nothing more at this time than to send our best wishes to Mike, Sharon, and the rest of the family.
Career as a coach
Michel Leach began his coaching career in 1987 with the Cal Poly football team, representing California Polytechnic State University, and progressed to the College of the Desert in 1988. Mike has worked with a wide variety of organizations and held a number of offensive coordinator positions roles over the course of his career. In 1999, he joined the coaching staff of Bob Stoops in Oklahoma.
The team’s offensive ranking jumped from 12th to first after partnering with Mike, where they had previously been ranked. Mike transferred to Texas Tech to play football with the Red Raiders after spending a year in Oklahoma. Several of the adjustments Leach made for the squad ultimately helped them, and they steadily improved from then on.
He stayed with the group for a long time. Between 2006 and 2009, Leach earned nearly a million dollars. Some of the criticisms of Leach as a Red Raiders coach were serious enough to have him suspended and eventually removed from his position. The most serious of these was a 2009 report. An altercation over how he handled a player named Adam James led to his dismissal.

The Personal Life of Mike Leach
Michael Leach is the oldest of Frank and Sandra Leach’s six children. Leach was born in Susanville, California, although he spent his formative years in Cody. He grew up in the Latter Day Saints (Mormons) sect of the Christian Church. Leach and Sharon were married and seemed to be happy together.
