Born on December 25, 1991 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, Gaite Sara Kim Jansen is an actress as well as a model, known for her work in several Dutch film projects. In recent years she also broke through in Hollywood and the British entertainment industry. One of her most notable projects was in the third season of the British TV series “Peaky Blinders”.

Early life and career beginnings
At a young age, Gaite developed an interest in acting and began pursuing it as a child, an endeavor supported by her family. Continued acting career
In 2014, Jansen made her stage debut with the prestigious Amsterdamse Theatergroep and starred in Medea’s production of “Hamlet vs. Hamlet”, playing the character of Ophelia. Around the same time, she landed a main role for the movie “Supernova”, which was submitted to participate in the Berlinale Film Festival in the Generations category.
A year later, Gaite had another main role, in the local film “Greenland”. Continuing to show her prowess and versatility in acting, she was cast in the movie “Therapy” where she played a suicidal woman. In 2016, Gaite got more regular roles, with the first being the Dutch film “In my father’s garden”, based on the book of the same name by Jan Siebelink, in which she starred together with Barry Atsma and Marcel Hensema. The film received a lot of attention as it was selected as a potential nominee for Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards, but was not shortlisted – the award was to be given to an Iranian film called “The Salesman”, an adaptation of the play “Death of a Salesman”, popularized by Arthur Miller. The film was also a co-production with France.
In the same year, she landed one of her biggest roles to date when she was cast in a recurring role on the BBC series “Peaky Blinders‘, in which she portrayed the Russian Grand Duchess Tatiana Petrovna. The show stars Cillian Murphy, Paul Anderson, Joe Cole and Helen McCrory as members of the Shelby crime family, based on the urban youth gang of the same name, and recounts their exploits after the end of World War I. had a brief romantic interest in Cillian’s character, and was involved in various criminal activities as the season progressed.

In 2017, Jansen worked on another BBC project – “Duty line– which is regarded as one of the highest performing series to air on BBC 2. The show initially started in 2012 and continued due to high demand and critical acclaim. The show tells the story of a firearms officer played by Martin Compston, who is transferred after disagreeing with his former team’s cover-up of an illegal shooting incident. He then teams up with an undercover cop, Hana Reznikova, played by Vicky McClure, in the anti-corruption unit to expose corruption within the police force. She appeared during the fourth season.
Her latest project is the 2019 television series “jet”, aired on Cinemax and starring Carla Gugino. It tells the story of a criminal who, after getting out of jail, finds himself at it again and dealing with various eccentrics and dangerous personalities. She was on the series for the entire nine-episode run, playing the role of a prostitute who is a good friend of Gugino’s titular character. The show received good reviews mainly due to the noir theme that the show executes well. It is unknown if the show will get a sequel, with no announcements after the first season.
Private life
Gaite is in a relationship, though she hasn’t shared many details about it or her partner apart from a few photos she posted on Instagram, even though they’ve been together for more than five years. One of her favorite movies is 1999’s ‘Sixth Sense’, known for helping to establish M. Night Shyamalan’s career. In her spare time she supports various charities, including Happy Caravan, an organization that aims to provide education to children in need across Europe. They have recently set up an online school, mainly due to the coronavirus outbreak that has left many living at home.
