Father – Xi Jinping

Jinping is the son of communist revolutionary Xi Zhongsun, one of those purged during the Cultural Revolution. Growing up, he gained a lot of political influence, especially in the coastal provinces of China. He was appointed governor of Zhejiang and then became secretary of the communist party, replacing Chen Liangyu. He was believed to be the successor to then Supreme Leader Hu Jintao, who served as vice president from 2008 to 2013.

He was also appointed vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, and during the establishment of the People’s Republic of China, he became the first general secretary.
