Bobby Goodson is the forester who owned the logging company that the Discovery Channel show “Swamp Loggers” focused on. An entrepreneur and reality TV star, there is much more to Goodson than meets the eye. He has admitted to a sordid past, steeped in drugs, violence and alcohol, but claims to have embarked on a new path. His wife Lori has complete confidence in his transformation and has seen him through all of his worst moments. It took an almost tragic event to trigger his change, as his family never felt it necessary to intervene, despite the potentially fatal prospects of his relationships.

Bobby Goodson was born in 1964 in North Carolina, USA. Unpleasant Marvin “Bobby” and Cathy “Jo” Mobely Goodson. He has a brother, Michael, who still accompanies him in logging, and a sister, Ashley Goodson, who is married to Chris Wells. Bobby took part in logging as early as age 11, an inevitable fate for a fourth-generation lumberjack. Perhaps it was working among the lumberjacks that made him feel comfortable around older people, and led to him coming into contact with a group of older children at school.
Youth
Spending time with the older kids proved to be harmful, the partying and alcohol abuse had a major impact on him, to the extent that he would show up to school drunk when he was still in fifth grade. said Bobby CBN that “Looking back on my life, I couldn’t remember a day I went without getting high or drinking or some kind of drug.” Goodson already led a far from conventional childhood and had already dated a slew of girls by the time he met Lori when they were 13.
While they didn’t start dating right away, it was only a matter of time, when they were 14 their relationship was far from healthy.
They both had volatile and violent personalities and could not contain their displeasure and anger towards each other. Bobby admits that he would choose his words carefully and choose the words that would hurt her the most – essentially amounting to verbal abuse. He was also physically abusive, and it took an emotional toll on Lori, who would stay in bed for days at a time. Despite all the doubts, the two had their first child when they were only 16.
Education
Despite the disruption that drugs and alcohol had on his school career, not to mention becoming a father at the age of 16, he still managed to enroll, with good grades to go to college. to enrol from Chowan College, where he graduated with a degree in graphic communications.
However, the diploma could not give him the same satisfaction as logging, and he returned to the family business to continue the family tradition.

After finishing college, Bobby went to work for his father in the logging industry. However, he decided he wanted to make a name for himself and his family and founded Goodson’s All Terrain Logging Inc in Jacksonville, North Carolina in 1986 with the goal of delivering quality and efficiency. While many people tend to resent loggers for what they believe is environmental destruction, logging is an essential part of the economy. However, Goodson’s All Terrain Logging did not rely solely on this story and used a scooping technique that is more environmentally friendly.
Discovery Channel
Discovery has a knack for shedding light on unusual but essential callings and the characters and families behind them. This was no different when it came to Goodson’s All Terrain Loggers. Pilgrim Films approached the company in the interest of creating a docuseries that would shed light on the logging industry. The result was “Swamp loggers”, which premiered on June 15, 2006 on the Discovery Channel.
The show followed the apparent grind of logging and its seemingly endless stream of misadventures. Most businesses that need lumber use commercialized businesses, which makes it much more difficult for smaller businesses like Bobby’s to succeed.
The 16-person crew must race each week to meet their quota and overcome problems such as bad weather conditions, faulty equipment, transport problems and unreliable customers.
The show was filmed in Pendor County and the surrounding woods, but was short-lived, ultimately lasting only four seasons, airing for the last time on January 10, 2012. This did not detract from the show’s popularity and is regularly rerun on Quest. in Ireland, in the US and the UK.
Private life
After having their son Justin. Lori and Bobby finally got married five years later in 1985 when they were 21. Even then, the violent dynamic in their relationship had not improved, and family members were concerned that the marriage would only exacerbate the problem.
But instead of giving advice or intervening, bets were placed – Bobby later found out that his brother Michael bet that he would kill his wife Lori within a year.
A near-fatal encounter forced Bobby Goodson to reevaluate his life choices. After coming home drunk one night, Bobby and Lori get into a fight. This wasn’t unusual, but it escalated faster than usual, and Bobby had Lori pressed against the wall with his hands around her throat. Bobby would have killed her if the phone hadn’t rang. Lori says: “I remember he just let me go and I fell on the back of that bed and it broke. He answered the phone as if nothing had happened. And he looked down at me and he said, ‘It’s your father.’”
The next morning, Bobby awoke in a tumultuous and chaotic house, reportedly not remembering the incident. However, this was the impetus he needed to reform his life. Realizing that he had almost become a murderer, he marched down and devoted his life to the church.
Whether through supernatural intervention or through the cathartic effects of prayer, Bobby was able to change his life. He and Lori left his culture of drugs and alcohol and were baptized. Today, he, Lori, and their children Brittany and Justin all remain religious. Both his children are married, Justin to Bethany and Brittany to an unknown man. Goodson is incredibly proud of his children and his grandchildren, and focuses his efforts on perpetuating his lifestyle and maintaining the family business.
