Who is Ashton Torgerson?
Ashton Torgerson, 16, of Medford, Oregon, is an aspiring racecar driver. This young driver has been on the road for ten years and has already won countless races. At the age of 4 he started racing go-karts and eventually switched to dirt racing.
When he turned 11, he moved from cage carts to 600 micro sprints and small monster trucks. Ashton followed in his older brother Austin’s footsteps by making his full-size monster truck debut at the age of 14.
What happened to Ashton Torgerson?
On January 11, 2023, Ashton headed to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to participate in the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals. While battling around a corner with another driver in his debut indoor midget car race, he tragically crashed on lap 11.
After a spectacular crash, the teen’s car slammed into a wall and flipped many times, ejecting his body from the wreckage. When they arrived, paramedics transported the rally driver to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Just before the crash, Ashton had moved up to sixth.
What has been said since the accident?
Before he was sent to the hospital, Chili Bowl nationals officials stated that Torgerson was “awake and talking to them”. Later, the Torgerson family notified followers who saw the crash to let them know that Torgerson was well.
The joint Twitter account that Ashton and Austin share had a tweet that read, “Return approved, neck exams, CT scan pending…” He immediately inquired about his current location. Having people like you on their side means the world Ashton and his loved ones. He was taken for additional testing, the results of which showed that he has sensations in his hands and feet.
