The end of Kindred explained
Octavia E. Butler’s novel “Kindred” has been adapted into a television series by FX. Described as a “grim fantasy,” it follows Dana (Mallori Johnson), a young woman who recently moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a television writer.
Shortly after moving into her new home, she encounters strange events that seem to bring her back to the American South of the 19th century. What she thinks is a vivid dream sequence becomes a new reality as it becomes more frequent.
Dennis (Isaac Davis), Dana’s aunt, doesn’t believe her. She believes history repeats itself because Dana’s mother, Olivia (Sheria Irving), had similar visions before her death.
Kevin (Micah Stock), a waiter helping getting her into it home from work and becomes her only friend in her new home, is the only person the young woman believes. He unintentionally follows her back in time and experiences the nineteenth century with her.

Kindred (season 1) review
Kindred was a roller coaster ride. The complicated structure for storytelling did provide some grounding difficulties and confusion. However, they were not enough to displace Branden Jenkins’ attempt to dramatize Octavia Butler’s revolutionary novel of the same name.
Jenkins distributes the weight of the story well with the writers across eight parts, ensuring that no segment is lopsided. The result is that the quality of production, story and characters remain consistent throughout. It keeps the viewer interested and involved in the story.
As Jenkins begins his world-building, there is a slight hesitation to continue. However, the unique convergence of creative brilliance on screen and a joustwinding script with rich observations about racism and cultural prejudices overwhelms you.
