The former Jacksonville Jaguar lineman was found unconscious in his wife’s home on Friday. When police were contacted, the 38-year-old was at his wife’s home in West Lafayette. In the bedroom, the former offensive lineman passed out and could not be saved.
His death was attributed to an “enlarged heart with acute heart failure,” according to TMZ Sports, according to a preliminary investigation. The newspaper also states that a full report and the formal cause of death will be decided within weeks.

‘Rest in peace, Uche Nwaneri. @Chukwu77 played 7 seasons with the @Jaguars, 2007-2013, developing a deep bond with the Jags fans that continues to this day,” the post read.
“On behalf of the Jaguars organization and my family, our thoughts are with Uche’s family and friends at this terrible time.”
Nwaneri played for the Jaguars from Jacksonville for seven seasons after being selected out of Purdue in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He was a reliable starter with the guard between 2008 and 2013, defending such quarterbacks as Chad Henne, Blaine Gabbert and David Garrard.
Nwaneri was fired in 2014 and later signed with the dallas cowboys, however, he did not make the team’s roster. He later acquired 77 Sports Consulting, the Anchor Down Grille and the Anchor Bar & Tattoo Studio in Atlanta, according to his Instagram.
In addition, Nwaneri managed The Observant Lineman’s YouTube channel, where he wrote about gaming, pop culture and sports. He was active on Instagram and Twitter, talking about everything from politics to sports.
