Tongayi Chirisa is portrayed as a Ciprien Grieve in “Mayfair Witches”

AMC’s new supernatural series, Mayfair Witches, stars actor Tongayi Chirisa as Ciprien Grieve. Ciprien is reportedly a fictional character created for the program and does not appear in Anne Rice’s original trilogy of books. He will play an important role in Mayfair Witches. Tongayi Chirisa is a well-known Zimbabwean actor who has starred in various series over the years, including Crusoe, The Jim Gaffigan Show and others. The new series debuted on AMC on January 8, 2023.

Tongayi Chirisa was born on August 8, 1981 in Harare, Zimbabwe. Chirisa seems to have spent his early years in Harare. He studied at Lomagundi College before graduating from AFDA in South Africa with a bachelor’s degree in live performance. Tongayi Chirisa’s first part was in the TV drama Studio 263 where he played Detective Trevor Davis. He went on to play small roles in a number of feature films and short films, including Tanyaradzwa, Ace of Hearts, and Skin, to name a few.

His biggest TV break came on NBC’s Crusoe. In the musical, he played Man Friday, and audiences praised him for his performance. Mayfair Witches is about Dr. Rowan Fielding, who discovers she is part of a powerful family of witches, which changes her life completely. According to AMC, the following is the official synopsis of the show:

“Neurosurgeon Rowan Fielding has a problem: she kills with her mind when she’s angry. Her search for answers leads her to her mysterious biological family. Deirdre Mayfair longs to get away from her aunt’s suffocating mansion in New Orleans.

Alexandra Daddario plays Rowan Fielding in the series and she has received acclaim from reviewers for her portrayal since the first episode aired on 8 January 2023. Many additional actors including Jack Huston as Lasher, Tongayi Chirisa as Ciprien Grieve, Harry Hamlin as Cortland Mayfair and Annabeth Gish as Deirdre Mayfair, appearing in supporting roles with Daddario.
