A year after the young girl was shot to death and left on the side of a highway in South Los Angeles, her family is pleading for the public’s help in identifying the killer.
Tioni Theus’ family is asking for more outstanding state and federal funds to help solve cold cases in South Los Angeles. Tioni is 16 years old. On January 8, 2022, a body was found on the road nearby the South Figueroa Street ramp onto Manchester Avenue.
According to authoritiesshe told a relative she was meeting a friend to go to a party the day before she was last seen.

Shortly after her death, the County Board of Supervisors increased the reward it offered for information that would result in the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator. The current payout is $120,000.
Tioni attended Centennial High School and lived in Compton, according to LA County officials.
Her mother was supposedly recovering from a terrible accident while living with her father. She was a straight A student, loved to dance and played golf, according to relatives.

“We are still fighting for Tioni,” said Salana Theus, a cousin of Tioni, at a press conference Saturday. “It’s been a year. Our family is still in need. This is one thing I would never put on the worst of the worst of enemies.
On January 8, 2022, Tioni’s body was found next to the freeway exit at Manchester Avenue, not far from South Figueroa Street. She told a relative that she went to a party with a friend the day before she was reported missing.
Shortly after her death, the provincial board of supervisors increased the price for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.
The current amount of the prize is $120,000. According to LA County data, Compton resident and Centennial High School student Tioni was in attendance.
After a terrible accident, she stayed with her father while her mother got better. Her relatives say she had straight As and a passion for dancing and golf.
