As of 2023, Kaleidoscope is seen as a potential game changer by TV fans everywhere. Because the episodes can be seen in random order, this is the first series of its kind. Everyone will have their own individual experience, and it was fascinating to hear the different ways people’s stories have been compared and contrasted to date.

The series from American crime drama creator Eric Garcia aired on Netflix on Sunday, January 1, 2023, encouraging viewers to try new things. Master thief Leo Pap, played by Giancarlo Esposito (Better Call Saul), has set his sights on $7 billion for his gang.

Could they succeed? When in your timeline do you expect this to happen? The public is eager to get answers to all these questions. Before we get into that, let’s see why Kaleidoscope’s episodes aren’t numbered and the meaning of their names.

Instead of numbers, Kaleidoscope episodes are labeled with colors. Yellow, white, green, blue, orange, violet, red and pink are the names of the other eight. There was no point in numbering the episodes because the series will unfold in a different order for each viewer.

If you watch the episodes in the order 2, 4, 7, etc., it seems like you accidentally watch them in the wrong order. It was preferred to avoid the sense of a set chronology through numbered episodes as they cannot be enjoyed in order.

Kaleidoscopes are toys consisting of a tube of mirrors and pieces of colored glass, and the pieces are usually arranged by color for aesthetic purposes. As you rotate the tube, the reflections create new patterns. Ultimately, the pattern of the sequence is determined by the sorted order of the colors.

“I agree with you: it’s a great idea”

Giancarlo was recently interviewed by ScreenRantwhere he discussed his thoughts on the kaleidoscope, non-linear presentation of the series.

“When I first heard it was going to happen this way, I pick my brain and think, ‘What does this mean?’ … Suddenly I realized that if I were an audience watching a show that had a non-linear format, I’d feel like I’m making up the story. And so for me, I think it’s genius. Because I’m making this movie, it’s property of what the structure is.

He continued, “I can choose from orange, green, white, red, purple, and it gives me the authority and the idea that I am partially telling the story that I want to see. That’s really incredible in my book.
