The Ark Episode 3 Get Out And Push Review And Recap – Astroids, UV Storms And Is Lieutenant Garnet Superhuman?

The crew of the Ark can’t catch a break. At first they had too little water. Then they barely had any water. Finally they were days before the water ran out. The Ark Episode 3 took those days and compressed them into hours. On a collision course with an asteroid and with no way to get their engines running in time, things look bleak for the group. However, where there’s a will there’s a way, and the Ark I’s skilled minds are as resourceful as they are secretive. That’s just the way we like it.

We now know what to expect from Syfy’s latest The Ark. Vital parts will break or stop functioning, and a major emergency will dominate for a few hours until the brilliant young people on board come up with a solution and avert disaster. Just because we know what to expect doesn’t make it any less fun to watch these beautiful people fly by the seats of their pants as they try to avoid dying or killing each other.

Ava’s decision to divert engine cooling water to the drinking tanks had serious consequences. She bought them for several days, but placed them directly in the path of an asteroid. All the parts stealing has also left them vulnerable. With time against them, it’s another race to the ship. Their imminent deaths are just background to the more interesting plot beats. No one is who they seem and everyone has something to hide.

There are still many secrets to discover on the Ark. The Ark Episode 3 has solved the mystery of Lt. Garnet broken wide open. Jasper had a memory card with a recording of her beating up a man in a bar and slitting his throat with a broken beer bottle. Combined with her help in the cafeteria in episode 2, she has some questions to answer. Lieutenant Lane had never been a fan of hers. The two bumped into each other, but they looked like they finally found common ground. After seeing Jasper’s recording, he wonders again who he shares command with. What he’s going to do with this information, we don’t know yet, but I assume he’ll call in Lieutenant Brice.

Lieutenant Brice has his own secrets. The flying legend is arguably the best pilot the GSA has ever had. Why he was then transferred to Navigation is strange. Dr. Kabir wants to take an exam to get basic information as his medical record was corrupted, and he refuses, pointing to the asteroid blasting towards them. This is not his only motivation. More than likely, something in that data prevented him from flying. Does he have a death wish? Does he have a medical condition that should keep him out of the cockpit? He avoids Dr. Kabir now, but that won’t be possible forever.

Meanwhile, the stress of being the only doctor on board and lack of sleep has taken its toll on Dr. Kabir. She can’t continue at this rate and by the end of The Ark Episode 3, we’ll know how she’ll handle it. Unfortunately, doomsday revelers aren’t the only ones on drugs. What was once played for fun is now a crisis. Hopefully someone recognizes what she’s doing before it becomes a big deal.

Trent Baylor is also hiding something. He’s not as stupid as he pretends to be. What was he looking at on Alicia’s tablet? He and Alicia share a tender moment when he gives her a pep talk, but I wonder how much that is to gain her trust. Angus also likes Alicia and might be the better choice. He’s smart and sweet. Angus also turns out to be one of the few people on the ship with no secrets. He also thinks about problems differently than the others, which makes him valuable as more than a farmer. In addition, Angus pilots one of the few weapons on board. An explosion helped save the ship in The Ark Episode 3, but it can also be used to destroy it in later episodes.

Felix and Kat quickly become the most intriguing characters. The two don’t get much screen time, and yet it feels like every moment is an integral part of the story. Every interaction conveys a wealth of subtle information. Felix (Pavle Jerinic) has depth and medical experience that could prove useful. At the same time, Cat (Christina Wolfe) is an opportunistic mess of a human who is also so intuitive it’s scary.

I am very curious about this genetic diversity and couples aboard the Ark line. It’s twice now that we’ve heard diversity being used as an excuse for why couples can’t be on the same ship. Ava is right to question that as a valid rule. She was not related to Harris. Neither would any of the other couples be genetically related. So what is the real reason behind the restriction of couples? Is there anything Trust doesn’t tell everyone? Garnet seems almost superhuman. Is it possible she is genetically modified? If so, are there others? Were the crew and passengers chosen for their compatibility with the modified humans? We’ll have to wait and see how these things develop.

For now, the asteroid that turned out to be a comet gave them all the water they needed. The ship and all major systems are working again. Everyone gets along, but the puzzle pieces have already been put in place for the next serious problem to crop up. There’s a problem brewing on Ark I. There’s still a killer on the loose.
