Detectives working on the case of a grandmother’s murder have published a new photo of the person they believe is responsible. Following the discovery of Michelle Hanson’s death on December 3 at a property on Brady Street in Sunderland, police began searching for 47-year-old Alexander Carr.
According to previous police statements, the 32-year-old is “actively fleeing arrest”. They have just released a new photo of Carr, who is from Sunderland but has been spotted in both Newcastle and North Tyneside.
In addition, he has links with parts of Northumberland and London. Northumbria Police have launched an appeal for information on Carr’s whereabouts, and Crimestoppers have offered a reward of up to £10,000 for information leading to his arrest.
The public is urged not to approach him, but instead to call emergency services on 999. As the head of the investigation, Detective Superintendent Graeme Barr, stated: “Michelle’s family is at the forefront of our thoughts as we move forward, and rest assured that our specially trained officers will be there to provide support during this difficult time.

We are committed to learning what happened and holding those responsible accountable to provide answers to her family. The Hanson family released a video statement on Thursday asking for help from the public to bring justice to their mother’s case.
Shannon Brown, whose age is quoted as 29, was quoted as saying, “It breaks our hearts as a family to think we will never see her again. “My mother was an extremely warm and compassionate person. She was the kind of person who would forgive anyone who wronged her because she could only see the good in them.
Ms Brown appealed to the public, saying: “If you have any information that could help police in their investigation, please don’t hesitate to contact them.” Northumbria Police said in a tweet earlier this month that Carr “considers himself capable of surviving outdoors”.
Someone said he might be hiding in abandoned buildings or slums. Footage of Carr boarding a bus the next day Mrs. Hanson‘s death was recorded on CCTV and previously released.
