EA announced today that the release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is being delayed. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2, developed by Respawn Entertainment, has been pushed back to April 28.

Director Stig Asmussen explained the delay on social mediasaying they are working hard to improve performance as they polish the final release. The explanation is as follows:

“For the past three years, the Jedi team here at Respawn has poured its collective heart and soul into Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and we’re proud to say the next chapter in Cal Kestis’ story is contentedly complete. We are now fully focused on the final phase: bug fixes to improve performance, stability, polish and most importantly the player experience.

“Jedi: Survivor is a direct response to feedback from our community, with expansive destinations to explore, improved combat and traversal, and, of course, the continuation of Cal and BD’s story. Making this game really made us a better team, and we pushed ourselves on every level to make this the Star Wars sequel our fans have come to expect from Respawn and Lucasfilm Games.”

“To ensure the team meets the Respawn quality bar, gives the team the time they need and achieves the level of polish our fans deserve, we have added six critical weeks to our release schedule – Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be now launching globally on April 28.”

“Thanks to EA and Respawn for giving us the time to provide the best experience for our players, and to all of you for your understanding.”

“Dedicated to making games that feel good to play.” Zampella added“We’re proud of the game this team has created, and by giving them the extra time, we’re ensuring we can deliver another great Star Wars experience for our players on April 28.”

In development since May last year, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the sequel to Respawn’s first foray into the series. Fallen Order, starring Cal Kestis as a Jedi on the run from the Purge, was well received but criticized for lacking polish despite its impressive action and compelling story.

Polish has been a problem all over EA for the past few years. After its release in 2021, the Battlefield 2042 development team received a lot of comments, but the game still has a bad reputation.
