According to the most recent report, Eddy’s friend Tyler Ford told TMZ that the actress underwent surgery on Dec. 9 and was discharged two days later.

However, Sonya started feeling sick again and was sent to hospital four days later when doctors discovered she had an infection. Tyler reported that Eddy was on a ventilator on December 19 due to an incurable illness. The following day, actress Octavia Spencer announced the news on social media. Spencer’s tweet included a picture of Sonya Eddy, and she noted that Eddy would be missed by General Hospital fans.
