Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe argue over Damar Hamlin Tweet

During a heated debate with Shannon Sharpe, co-host of his Fox Sports talk show on Wednesday, Skip Bayless defended his inflammatory tweet against Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin for the third consecutive day.

After missing Tuesday’s episode of their chat show “Undefeated,” former NFL player and NFL Hall of Famer Sharpe returned Wednesday. His absence came after his co-host, Skip Bayless, drew backlash for tweeting that the NFL had the Bills’ game against the Bengal from Cincinnati on Monday after Hamlin fell on the field. Hamlin suffered a blow to the chest and went into cardiac arrest.

In the wake of Monday’s event, Bayless wrote: “undoubtedly the NFL considering delaying the rest of this game – but how? This late in the season, a game of this magnitude is crucial to the outcome of the regular season… which suddenly seems so irrelevant.”

Bayless later tweeted that the uproar over his first post was based on a misreading of his intent. The Wednesday episode of “Undisputed” was marked by direct conflict between the show’s hosts. During his introductory speech, Sharpe claimed: “I’ve never seen anyone revive and fight for their life on the pitch.” “Skip tweeted something, and while I disagreed with the tweet, and hopefully Skip would delete it. But I wanted…”

Bayless immediately interrupted and said “I’m not going to delete it because I stand by what I tweeted.” After that, Sharpe decided to stop talking. With obvious frustration aimed at Bayless, he continued: “I can’t even get through a monologue without you interrupting me.”

Bayless stated that he did not think Sharpe would reply to his tweet on live television, and Sharpe attempted to redirect the subject back to Hamlin. The heated exchange lasted nearly a minute. After Bayless’s controversial post on Monday, he later clarified that it was all in good fun.

The well-being of that young man is paramount. What I meant to say in my last tweet is this. My apologies if my tweet has been misinterpreted, but he needs to focus on his health. At the beginning of Tuesdayundisputed,Bayless didn’t directly respond to the tweet, but he seemed shocked by it.

“I apologize for what we’re going to do here today, if it offends anyone, because we’re going to try to do the show as usual, we’re doing the show,” he said. “I admit I am still shocked by what happened to Damar Hamlin last night. In fact, I’m still wrecked. In fact, I’m not sure I’ll be able to do this show today.”

After coaches for both teams refused to play on Monday, the NFL decided to postpone the game to a “right time” to announce further action.
