Prince Harry’s ‘spare’ memoir tops bestseller lists

The figures from booksellers such as Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million and Powell’s make it clear: Prince Harry’s Reserve, his memoir of his life as a royal, was already dominating bestseller lists by the time it was released Tuesday. The day before the publication, January 10, Reserve ranked first on Amazon’s US Best Seller list for books in the US and number one on Barnes & Noble’s “B&N Top 100: Book Bestsellers.”

Reserve also made the Books-A-Million and Powell lists. It was well located in many ways to eventually chart high. The memoir was released about a month after the last three episodes of Harry and Megan, the six-part Netflix docuseries centered around the Duke of Sussex and his American-born wife, the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle. In the first four days alone, the series attracted 81 million viewing hours.

Answer to Reserve has been an interesting portrait of how the public views the British royal family. The BBC review called it “the weirdest book ever written by a royal family,” about “an extraordinarily strange life, moving suddenly between this lack of [glamor] time with the international jet set.”

However, some take the book very seriously, such as royal biographer Angela Levin. She spoke to Euronews as regards Reserveand called Prince Harry “a real bully” whose memoirs “go way over the line.”

While the New York Times found a number of leaks Reserve In addition to revealing articles that could affect book sales, the newspaper also quoted James Daunt, head of B&N and Waterstones, as saying that Harry’s book “is clearly going to be an interesting book that will continue to sell and will continue to be part of the conversation.”
