Attorney for Vice President Joe Biden said the FBI is investigating the Bidens’ home in Rehoboth, Delaware as part of an investigation into classified information. The president’s “full support” was “planned” for the search, according to a statement from Mr Biden’s attorney.

The search was conducted “without prior public notice” to ensure “operational safety and integrity,” according to Bob Bauer, Mr. Biden’s attorney. After classified paperwork was discovered in November at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C., this search is the latest in a long line of investigations. Nobody knew about this then.

Searches in December and January at one of Mr Biden’s homes in Wilmington, Delaware turned up more data. At least a dozen classified documents were discovered during the January sweeps, while the exact number is not known.
Mr Biden has stated that his team “fully and fully cooperated” with the investigation and that they did “what they should have done” by alerting officials immediately. Mr Biden told reporters on Jan. 2 that the materials were found in a locked garage after house searches on Jan. 1.

The latest investigation comes just a day after Special Counsel Robert Hur was given the responsibility of overseeing the documentary review. There has been criticism of the handling of classified papers by both President Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence.
A “limited number of documents with secret markings” were found in Mr. Pence’s home in Carmel, Indiana, according to a letter written to the National Archives by Mr. Pence’s attorney. On January 19, FBI agents found the documents in a safe at the property, and on January 23, they submitted two more boxes of documents to the records.
Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Florida home was searched in August 2022 and officials found dozens of boxes containing about 11,000 documents.
After Mr Trump’s lawyers said all relevant government documents had been delivered, a search warrant was issued. Mr Trump has denied wrongdoing on multiple occasions and said he released the material to be removed.
