Parasaur Ark: How to tame it, location… All about this dinosaur

In Ark: Survival Evolved, the parasaurus is one of the most common and commonplace dinosaurs out there. You will encounter them very often, from your first steps on the island. He is the basic mount for beginners in the game, but also serves as an excellent berry harvester and a whistleblower in the event of imminent danger. Finally, even if it’s not particularly impressive parasaurus is a favorite ally, and in this guide we explain the most important things you need to know about this dinosaur.

Where can you find parasaurs in Ark?

THE parasaurus is a very territorial herbivorous dinosaur: you can find it almost everywhere, no matter which island you are on. It is an exclusively terrestrial animal, it is not a very good swimmer and cannot fly. It is generally recognized by its average size and especially by the bony crest that adorns its skull.

THE parasaurus is not hostile, it is even more docile in reality. It will never attack another creature or the Survivor, and when attacked it simply flees until it leaves its opponents behind without ever attempting to confront them. His speed also makes him a good long runner, capable of outsmarting many opponents, starting with you.

Peculiarities of the Parasaur in Ark

  • Audible alarm: If you activate the Parasaur’s Turret Mode in the options, a notification will appear at the top of your screen whenever your dinosaur has detected a hostile creature nearby. A good radar!
  • Collector: If you ride a Parasaur and have it attack berry bushes, it will harvest much more than if you harvested them by hand. He’s not the best at it, but early in the game he’s a huge asset
  • Hunting help: Thanks to his high speed and the bony horn on his skull, he can stop many moving creatures by rushing headlong towards them. This allows you to attack it while it is stunned without the risk of getting hit
  • Excursion: The Parasaur shines with its stamina and speed. While he may not be able to outrun all the dinosaurs in the game, especially some famous predators, he is one of the fastest and most durable dinosaurs in the early game, making him a great ally in many ways.
  • transport: Finally, the Parasaur is best known for its amazing ability to store a lot of components without losing too much speed. He can carry a lot of gear and is still faster than many dinosaurs, great for the early game!

Taming: how to tame the Parasaur?

Taming one parasaurus is relatively easy, the hardest part is managing to immobilize it without killing it. This dinosaur is very frightened indeed and will flee at the slightest hostility, making taming it quite laborious at times if you don’t have the ability to counter its relatively fast walking speed. The easiest way to tame him is to shoot him Bolas to immobilize it before firing a few Arrows tranquilizersbut knocking him out the old fashioned way works just as well as harder, especially in the early game.

It should also be mentioned that, as with many dinosaurs, it is recommended that the parasaurus in a tem room before he wakes up so he doesn’t escape during the tame period. It’s definitely not required, but highly recommended: it’s a pretty fast dinosaur once it’s walking, it can run away and you’ll have a hard time getting it back to its destination if you notice it too late.

In terms of food, Herbivorous by nature, this creature especially loves Basic kibble and from mejoberry :

How to breed the Parasaur?

The reproduction of parasaurus requires the presence of a male and a female of this species.

Randomly and at a rate of about one egg every 18 to 48 hours, the female parasaurus lies one Parasaur Egg. This can be eaten by the player or used for crafting Basic croquettesbut to give birth to a little one parasaurus you have to hatch the egg by placing it on the ground and provide it with acceptable conditions for the development of the young.

In case of parasaurus, her egg hatched in about 1h25min after being incubated under the right conditions. It needs a temperature that fluctuates between 24 and 28°C to hatch, otherwise it will lose health. It is also interesting to know that the incubation time can be reduced by up to 20% if the egg is placed in an incubator set at the ideal temperature.
