Olaf Disney Dreamlight Valley: Blizzard, gems, snacks… All missions to complete

Disney Dreamlight Valley will be available in Early Access on all platforms from Tuesday, September 6, 2022. The chance for you to discover and restore this magical world by finding lost Disney and Pixar characters. All means are good: whether to explore the open world by unlocking the passages of night thorns thanks to the Dreamlight, or to go through the castle and its magical paintings. Today we are going to focus on Olaf.

Introducing Olaf

Olaf is a secondary character in the 2013 animated movie The Snow Queen. He is also heavily inspired by a Hans Christian Andersen story of the same name, published in 1844. In cinema, the Disney story has entertained young and old with the infamous, ever-optimistic Princess Anna, who will do anything to save her sister from ice magic spiraling out of control. Along the way she meets Olaf, a snowman, and Kristoff, the love of her life, always accompanied by her reindeer Sven. In the game we find Anna, Kristoff, Elsa and Olaf who were added during the February 16, 2023 update.

Unlock Olaf, his house and his rewards by friendship level

Olaf automatically unlocks as you progress through the storyline with Elsa and Anna. He will help you eliminate the Blizzard in the Frozen Heights.

Below are the rewards that Olaf offers you on every level of friendship. Level 10 is the maximum you can reach. Then it is no longer useless to let him gain experience, but it will always be more profitable to take him on excursions since his bonuses will be higher.

Olaf will offer you to follow Story missions to advance the scenario, but also Friendship missions like any other character in the game.

The Great Blizzard

Story quest 1

If you have completed all of the previous quests in the game, starting the third game update will automatically start a cutscene showing a massive blizzard invading the Valley. Find Merlin to tell him about the situation. Your goal is to restore the Pillar of the Frozen Heights and for that you need to find the orb like in the previous biomes.

So go explore the blizzard to find the source of the disturbance. Behind the pillar you see a stone door in the cliff with some kind of symbol of Atlantis. Approach to interact with the door and open it.

Enter the secret room to meet Olaf, who just had his nose stolen by mysterious black squirrels.

If you want Olaf’s help with the Blizzard, you must first find his nose, arms and buttons by catching the squirrels. Go out of the cave to find them in the blizzard: there are 4 to find! Just search the area and spot the squirrels, run after them and press the interact button as if you were picking something up.

Take it all back to Olaf in the cave. Unfortunately, he will always have to miss his arms.

Talk to Elsa to learn more about water’s memory. She will then upgrade your watering can to be able to extract memories from the water. Go back to the pillar of the Frozen Heights and see the drops floating in front of it: use the watering can on it.

Report to Elsa and return to Olaf in the cave to find more souvenirs in the water drops. You’ll find one to the right of Olaf and another at the back, next to the purple hole. Go back to talk to Olaf and get the books in the room: the one on the far right towards the shelves is the right one.

To open the portal you need to find the missing gems and craft the Dreamlight Prism. Here are the materials to collect:

• 10 glasses : to do with sand
• 5 Purged Night Shards : Related to Nightshards and Dreamshards
• 3 broken prisms in the secret room: you can easily find them around Olaf, white pieces

Next, create the prism through your workbench in the “Furniture” tab.

Return to the secret cave to download place the prism on the base opposite Olaf. Now all you have to do is place the missing colored gems on the other three pedestals in the room:

• 1 Amethyst (purple): first pillar – found in the Forgotten Lands or the Frozen Heights.
• 1 citrine (orange): second pillar – found on the Sunny Plateau and in the Bayou de la Confiance.
• 1 Emerald (green): Last Pillar – found in the Forest of Courage and the Bayou of Confidence.

Be careful, only the normal (and not shiny) versions of the gems will work.

Approach the portal and unleash your greatest fear to retrieve Olaf’s arms and return them to him. You also get the sphere: place it in the pillar to remove the blizzard. Talk to Olaf again to end this quest.

A happy place

Friendship quest level 2

Olaf definitely wants to give some presents to the villagers. Here are the materials you need to collect:

• 3 salmon : Frozen Heights or Sunny Plateau (white circle)
• 4 red bromeliads : Sunny Plateau
• 4 white passion lilies : icy heights
• 1 blue passion lily : icy heights

Take everything to Olaf who is no longer necessarily in the secret cave. Don’t hesitate to ask him to “take a ride” with you to always have him by your side.

Follow him to give his gift to Mother Gothel (leave the building you’re in if it overhears). Then take the flowers to Scar and find Olaf on the bridge of the Sunny Plateau (wait a few seconds for him to come to you). Take the souvenir on the floor.

You now need to make a curtain by giving Minnie the following materials:

• 18 soft woods (found anywhere on the ground or at Kristoff’s Stand)
• 4 iron bar
• 4 rope: to be made on a workbench with fibers (seaweed necessary)

Minnie gives you the curtain, but it’s up to you to create the scene you saw in the Memory.

Use your workbench in the “Furniture” tab to find the Scene and give it to Olaf to complete the quest. The next one unlocks friendship at level 4.

A story to tell

Friendship quest level 4

Start by talking to Remy. To prepare the popcorn you will need:

• 2 corn : state of the enchanted beach
• 1 sugar cane : state of the enchanted beach
• 1 butter : for sale at Remy’s restaurant
• Of the pure ice : ask Elsa directly to give some.

Now use a kitchen to prepare Olaf’s snack with the above ingredients. In recipes, go to the Quest tab (the star icon) to find Sweet Frosted Popcorn, a 5-star dish that requires the above ingredients. Give it to Olaf.

Now go talk to Kristoff and Donald. You will then need to take a picture of the following locations:

• The Pillar of Courage in the Forest of Courage (center the photo in selfie mode),
• Sunny Plateau Elephant Graveyard (this is Scar’s house)
• The Ruins of the Forgotten Lands (where there are purple crystals)

The role of your life

Level 7 friendship quest

Olaf will ask you to collect the following materials:

• 12 softwood
• 3 Purple Milkweed: Found in Trust Bayou
• 1 empty vial: made on your workbench with glass

Then use your workbench in the “refined materials” tab to craft:

• 3 premium papers
• 1 violet ink

Take it all to Donald, who will sadly refuse to play his own part in the story.

To replace him, just talk to Scrooge, Anna, and Buzz Lightyear. Then listen to the conversation between Olaf and Anna.

Olaf presents… “Dreamlight Valley”!

Level 10 friendship quest

For his last mission you need to collect the following materials:

• 12 dry wood : You can find them on the Sunny Plateau and in the Frozen Heights
• 4 green passion lilies : Frozen Heights
• 2 white impatiens : Forgotten Lands
• 2 orange milkweed : Bayou of trust

All this allows you to create a “Landscape” through your workbench in the Furniture tab.

Now go talk to Anna about the costumes. You should collect the following materials:

• 15 fibers : to make via your workbench with seaweed
• 6 softwood
• 3 fabric : for sale at the Kristoff stand or to make with cotton (seed for sale at the Plateau Ensoleillé)
• 4 springs at Donald’s house

Anna will make you Donald’s mask to give to Olaf.

Open your inventory and then your Wardrobe the wear Donald mask. Now go to the Frozen Heights and open the Decoration menu to place the Scene where you want it. This will automatically trigger a photo. Talk to Olaf to end the quest.

In addition to the level 10 reward, Olaf gives you a show chest that you can open in your inventory to receive a free stage, poster, and cardboard backgrounds.
