GILFORD, NH – On New Year’s Day, an armed Gilford resident was shot and killed by a police officer.
Attorney General Formella said that people from the AG’s office are investigating the incident.
Around 10:00 p.m., Gilford police officers went to 5 Varney Point Road to check a report of a person with a knife. The person who lived there was inside and the officers tried to tase the person first. A second officer shot the person not long after.
The name of the person is not known because the next of kin have not heard anything. An autopsy will take place this week. No officers were injured in the incident.
