After a 12-hour flight delay, model and actor Elizabeth Hurley was dissatisfied with British Airways and let her online followers know in no uncertain terms.

Hurley expressed her frustration in tweets posted to her personal account on Tuesday.

Hurley told the airline she was stranded “on [the] Airport Antigua with no food or water, taxis or hotels not yet offered. Plane delayed 20 hours.”

A British Airways representative quickly replied to Hurley via Twitter to tell her that technical issues were causing delays. The rep apologized and assured the Gossip Girl star that the company was “urgently looking into this so you can travel as soon as possible”.

However, nothing came of that, as Hurley followed within an hour to signal that she remained “stranded”. Finally, she said she and her traveling companions left the airport and tagged her tweet “#avoidflying”.

Ultimately, British Airways tweeted that the issues faced by passengers like Hurley were due to “a temporary issue affecting some of our long-haul flight scheduling systems overnight”, stating that the issue was “resolved”.

Technical issues can cause major flight delays for holiday travelers, especially at Christmas time when travel demand is high. These problems can range from mechanical failures to airport infrastructure problems to inclement weather.

Travelers who don’t have Elizabeth Hurley’s public profile can expect additional delays this year’s Christmas weekend thanks to a massive “bomb cyclone” in the middle of the US, a storm that some meteorologists call a “once in a generationevent.
