Lewis Capaldi responds to mistake for Sam Smith at BRIT Awards

Despite the embarrassing introduction, he chuckles. Lewis Capaldi plays nice! The artist, who is 26 years old, performed his popular single “Forget Me” from his upcoming sophomore album, Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent last night at the BRIT Awards 2023 held at the O2 venue in London.

However, the host, Mo Gilligan, inadvertently called Capaldi by the erroneous name while introducing him to the audience and millions of viewers: “Sam Capaldi.”

After the singer finished performing, the comic immediately expressed regret.

“What a performance! Please give it up for Lewis Capaldi with a house gospel choir, everyone,” Gilligan said, adding, “My apologies; I just called him Sam. It just goes to show how strong the drinks at the BRITs are. They’re not playing.”

Capaldi couldn’t respond in real time on television, but he immediately took to Twitter to respond as hilariously as possible.
