Only four days stand between you and a deep space exploration mission here on planet Earth. We’re talking, of course, about businessroundups.org Sessions: Space, which kicks off December 6 in Los Angeles. There is still time to get involved, learn from and network with the leading minds and creators building the new space economy.

Come on board: Buy your pass today and then explore all of LA’s space technology opportunities

Check out the conference agenda for the full list of interviews, panel discussions, fireside chats and breakouts. At this point, however, we would like to highlight a session led by one of our partners. We’ve said it before, but it bears repeating:

businessroundups.org partner companies do more than write a check. They bring expertise, relevant content and resources that help budding founders grow their knowledge, skills and opportunities.

Here’s a nice example. Shahir Gerges, the director of business strategy at Orbital Reef, Blue Origin, will lead a session titled “Growing the LEO Economy on Orbital Reef.” As we look at commercial successors to the International Space Station, we see new market opportunities emerging in low Earth orbit (LEO) destinations.

Learn more about how Orbital Reef, a LEO commercial destination ecosystem, is creating new space opportunities and helping startups accelerate their business through Reef Starter, Orbital Reef’s latest initiative to lower barriers to entry for early-stage companies.

You’ll also hear about the first batch of startups that won the Reef Starter Innovation Challenge and learn how you can get involved in the future. We think this is one discussion you don’t want to miss.

Shahir Gerges is the director of business strategy for Orbital Reef, within Blue Origin. Orbital Reef is expected to serve as a mixed-use space station in LEO for commerce, research and tourism by the end of this decade. Focusing on long-term financial sustainability for Orbital Reef, Gerges is developing new offerings to cultivate growth in new and emerging markets that would benefit from the orbiting environment, including microgravity.

Prior to joining Blue Origin, Gerges worked as a strategy consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers, advising industrial companies (including aerospace and defense) on market strategy decisions, internal operational strategy and multi-deal due diligence. Gerges began his career at United Launch Alliance where he held various technical and strategic roles and supported government affairs.

Gerges holds a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology and an MBA from Georgetown University.
