The NBA trade deadline has officially been reached. With less than a month left until the deadline, teams are quickly opening up shop to try and improve their franchise’s status. New York Knicks guard and former No. 10 overall pick Cam Reddish is expected to be a focal point for both the Knicks and Lakers.

A year has passed since the Knicks bought Reddish in a transaction just before the 2022 trade deadline, when rumors began circulating that the Lakers might be interested in him. The Atlanta Hawks wanted a first-round draft pick from Los Angeles, but the Clippers weren’t interested.

The Knicks reportedly offered two picks to Atlanta in the second round, but the Hawks ultimately decided to pass. Reddish played in just 35 of the Knicks’ 81 games this season, demonstrating the buyer’s obvious remorse. Reddish has been back on the trading block for a few weeks now and the Lakers have shown immediate interest.

Michael Scotto van HoopsHype says the Knicks want two second-round picks in exchange for Reddish. This agreement looks like a win-win situation on paper. According to reports, the Knicks want two picks in the second round, the same number of picks that Los Angeles wanted to give Atlanta a year ago.

The Lakers need wing depth, and they desperately need it. Reddish is far from a perfect player, but he represents the type of player Los Angeles needs. Despite his height and defensive prowess (6’8″), he has struggled offensively and statistically from the field throughout his career.

And a fresh start with a team Reddish wants could be a turning point in his career. Both Hawks and the Knicks have treated Reddish like he was expendable, and the Lakers have wanted him for far too long to treat him the same way.

Lakers unwilling to trade unprotected first-round pick for Bojan Bogdanovic

Other rumors are about a possible exchange Boyan Bogdanovic of the Detroit Pistons and the Los Angeles Lakers. The Pistons have made it clear they want a first-round pick in exchange for the 33-year-old sharpshooter, but new speculation suggests the Lakers are unwilling to offer an unprotected first-round pick.
