During a week in which Republicans fought over who would become the next speaker of the House, Democratic Rep. Katie Porter became a hit on the internet because of the books she chose to read.

On Friday, a photo was taken of the California legislator reading Mark Manson’s book The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*** in the lower chamber.

Over the past week, a small group of conservative Republicans have made it more difficult to choose the next speaker in the House of Representatives. Representative Kevin McCarthy, a Republican from California, won on the 15th ballot, but not before giving some of his ultra-conservative colleagues some things they wanted.

Both sides of the political divide were disrupted by lawmakers not voting. Mike Rogers, a Republican from Alabama, even tried to hit on Matt Gaetz, a Republican from Florida, for not wanting to play.

Although the Republicans were fighting among themselves, Porter seems to have done her best to find her Zen and gain some fans in the process.

“You win Katie Porter. You win,” Democratic pollster and strategist Matt McDermott tweeted a photo of the congressman reading the book.

Others called Porter an “icon” or told her “bravo” to show their approval. Popular left-wing blogger Brooklyn Dad Defiant tweeted, “Katie Porter, y’all,” followed by four laughing emojis.

Porter received praise on social media for more than just the message in the title. The congresswoman also appeared to match her outfit to the book by wearing a bright orange blouse that almost matched the color of the book’s cover.

Some Twitter users seemed to see themselves in the Democratic representative. Georgetown professor Dan Moynihan wrote: “Katie Porter belongs to all of us.” Mike Sington, who was a senior executive at NBCUniversalasked a good hypothetical question.

“Is it possible to love Katie Porter even more?” he tweeted. The author, Manson, gave his own take on Saturday morning. He shared Porter’s photo with his book and the caption: “We made it to Congress, fam.”

When asked for more information, Manson wrote to News week on Saturday: “That’s the most productive thing Congress has done all year.”

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*** topped bestseller lists after its release in 2016, and has recently been made into a full-length movie. Critics called it one “generation-defining self-help guide” that states that the key to happiness is not to stay positive at all costs, but to get “handle better with adversity.”
