Bennett also stated to Entertainment Weekly that he made an effort to put together a team primarily made up of people who identify as LGBTQ+ for the film. “What was so great is that we had a team of LGBTQ individuals working on it from all creative aspects,” he added. “Our producers, writers, directors and performers are all strange.”

Bennett plays Sam, a single man who babysits his niece and nephew and develops feelings for their neighbor, Jason (George Krissa). Bennett’s personality is based, at least in part, on his ambition to reimagine the gay Uncle Buck. the heterosexual bachelor protagonist of the 1989 film.
