Who is Hugh Skinner?
Hugh William Skinner is an English actor, best known worldwide for the TV series “W1A” (2014-2017). However, in addition to his screen career, he is also known for his various stage appearances, including the role of Tony in the play “You Can’t Take It With You”, and another as Yephidikhov in the play “The Cherry Orchard”, under other projects.

Born on January 6, 1985 in London, England, Hugh spent his childhood in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, but also spent a year in Perth, Australia when he was four years old.
He attended Eastbourne College from 1998 to 2003 and later enrolled at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), graduating in 2006 with a degree in acting and drama.
Career start
Skinner’s career began the following year; he joined the English Touring Theater in 2007 and secured his first role in the play “French Without Tears”. In the same year he appeared in several other plays including “Senora Carrar’s Rifles” performed at the Young Vic, and at the National Theater he was Viggo in the play “The Enchantment.
As he became more involved in the acting world, he made his on-screen debut as Felix Clare in the TV series “Tess of the d’Urbervilles” (2008). He returned to the stage in 2008 with the role of D in the play “Angry Young Man”, while in 2009 he performed in several plays including “The Great Game” and “2 May 1997”. He remained active on stage until 2015, appearing in several high-profile plays, including “‘Tis Pity She’s a Whore” as Giovanni in 2010, then as Tony in the play “You Can’t Take It With You” (2011-2012) , as Luis in the play “American Psycho” (2013-2014), and in a double role in the play “The Trial” in 2015, among other plays.

Rise to fame
He slowly transitioned from stage to screen and one of his first popular roles was as Barnes in the 2013 television movie “The Wipers Times”. Barnaby Ford in the TV miniseries “Our Zoo”. . In 2014, he landed his most popular role to date, as Will Humphries in the TV comedy series “W1A” (2014-2017), while in 2015 he was John in the comedy crime film “Kill Your Friends”, starring Nicholas Hoult, Thomas Conroy and James Corden.
From 2016 to 2020, he was Wills in the comedy series “The Windsors”, and from 2017 to 2018, he starred in the historical drama series “Harlots”. Hugh can also be seen in several popular movies, including the sequel to “Mamma Mia!”, “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” (2018), as Young Harry, and in 2019 played Sunny in the movie “Steven Berkoff’s Tell- Tale Heart.” As of early 2020, he is working on the TV series “Little Birds”, which is currently in post-production, while he will also play Max in the romantic comedy film “Falling for Figaro”, scheduled for release in late 2020.
