Hogwarts Legacy Treasure Chest: How do you solve the puzzles in the caves?

If you’re the type who wants to clear absolutely every point of interest on the map in your open-world games, Hogwarts Legacy might bother you. There are really a lot of them, and they are not always interesting. Among the most numerous are the Trials of Merlin, who clearly didn’t have to study much at Hogwarts to have time to install all this, and the Treasure Chests.

The principle is quite similar to proofs as they use a dozens of puzzle models, which are recycled with some variations. Instead of giving you the solution to each riddle individually, rather, we explain to you how each riddle works so that you can solve them yourself. It’s easier and more efficient than listing 100 different solutions when every point of interest has the same name.

General tips

  • The world map does not automatically show all points of interest, you have to zoom in at least one level to see the position of the treasure chests. If you use Revelio from your broom in the air, they will also be displayed directly on the main screen.
  • Once there, start using Revelio, which has probably already become second nature by this point. Objects you need to interact with are always shown in blue on the screen. Then all you have to do is find the right spell to solve the puzzle.
  • By extension, we recommend waiting until you’ve unlocked all the spells in play and the broom before you start exploring the world map in earnest. It’s frustrating to get stuck, or have to use a half-baked solution, because you don’t have the right tools at hand. We are thinking in particular of Alohomora 3.
  • Sometimes a treasure chest is located near a Trial of Merlin, which can cause a bit of confusion as to which objects you need to interact with to open the door.
  • Sometimes the puzzles are simplistic. It only requires burning vines or cobwebs. Even kill enemies and use Repulso on the door, or destroy debris. There are even some that just require you to dip into a whirlpool or operate a door with an Accio handle. We are not going to dwell on such trivial obstacles.

To play chess

This is probably the trickiest riddle. After using Revelio, the trick is that sometimes you have to use the spell of Transformation on the object made available, to turn it into a real chess piece. All that remains is to move it with you Wingardium Leviosa, on a square on which he can capture the opponent’s king. See the dedicated guide below for a detailed explanation.

Plate to activate

This is definitely the most common riddle of the lot. A round plaque sits in front of a locked door. Usage Revelio to identify the object to be placed on it. It can be quite far away at times, requiring you to explore the area a bit. Having the talent to extend Revelio’s reach helps immensely. You then have to transport the object on the plate, which is much easier Wingardium Leviosabut it is still possible with Leviosa and Accio unique. Finally, you must cast the correct spell on the cube. The solution is simple, since it existsicon of the spell to cast, both on the board and on the cube. Usually it is FireworkOr LeviosaOr Glacius.

There is a rarer variant, in the cave, where the cube must be passed between stones and obstacles in order to place it on an otherwise inaccessible slab. Its activation is then based on another element, such as a nearby brazier. Wingardium Leviosa is then mandatory.

Eye door

The principle is the same as for Eye Chests and Doors of the same type, found in certain dungeons throughout history. If you explore the map before you get far enough, you may have missed the information. Just use the disillusionment spell to make yourself invisible. Then open the door.

Handles

Very simple if you have the right reflex, this riddle asks you to pull the right levers Accio, to open the door. Pulling any of the wrong levers will reset the puzzle. How to distinguish them? By using Revelio of course! Pull handles are shown in blue.

stone cubes

These puzzles are painful, but not for the same reasons as usual. Place the missing cube with the other cubes Wingardium LeviosaBut the symbol on it should be correctly oriented, in the same direction as the others. This can be complicated, as the cube tends to reorient itself in the air, and not necessarily in the right direction. It is therefore necessary to use obstacles to make it turn. Lot Flipendo can also help.

stone arch

Another riddle, the solution of which seems quite obvious to you, once you have completed the first trials of the guards. The stone arch in the center is a doorway to a slightly modified version of the world, in which objects have appeared or disappeared. Only go through the arch once, because somehow you’ll gain access to the chest. If you go under the arch a second time, the changes will disappear.

Turnstiles / Windmills

The principle of this puzzle is quite easy to understand intuitively, but there are a few subtleties that need to be taken into account. Of course you need to use a power spell like Repulso to make it spin, targeting the fins. But you don’t have to do it once, use Repellent endless to let it run for a while, until it stops. So use it Stop momentum to immobilize it permanently. There are usually several similar objects that must rotate in the area to open the door.
