One of the most popular side activities in Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy is none other than Care of Magical Creatures. There are about ten species to save in the open world, but there are many more possibilities to obtain different colors through reproduction, and even shiny ones!

When to unlock reproduction?
Like all features related to the Room of Requirement, you only unlock by progressing through the main scenario new missions with Cheek, the house-elf. After presenting you the loom and catch bag, he will not teach you how to reproduce your animals until the middle of winter, when the second test has been passed.
The colt that saved his kind
Join Cheek in the Room of Requirement. He will teach you how to reproduce your creatures. To do this you need to catch a male Thestral and another female and buy a Breeding Enclosure Creassort from Tomes and Parchment. It costs 1000 galleons. Return to Cheek to learn your Reproduction. Just place the enclosure and then place a creature of each gender. You unlock a new greenhouse. Once the case is in place, use the panel on the right to select the creatures. It takes 30 minutes for a Thestral. Once born, brush and feed the baby Thestral, then talk to Cheek. He will tell you the story of the Phoenix.
Use the breeding pen
Now that you’ve unlocked the Creassort thanks to Cheek, you can place as many fences as you can in each of the vivariums to try and breed creatures. It always takes 30 minutes for an egg to hatch.
Remark : We still don’t know how or if it is possible to grow a juvenile creature once obtained.
Get all colors of baby animals
When you interact with a breeding loft, you will see that it is possible to choose the parents of the future baby (if you have multiple males and females). This is very important because there are different colors of juveniles.
To find out if you already have a color, you can easily see it by starting the reproduction:
- When the image of the creature appears, you already have it,
- Otherwise an egg will appear in the enclosure and you will have to wait 30 minutes before discovering the color
You can breed all the magical creatures in the game, except the Phoenix, a rare and unique bird. Below is the full list of animals and where to find them:
Finally, if you reproduce all the animals in the game, you can unlock the “Find the little beast” trophy. By breeding 10 you can also get the Wizard’s Guide challenge “breed unique creatures” and receive the legendary ball mask.
