Set in 1717, during the height of the piracy era, Our Flag Means Death chronicles the exploits of Stede Bonnet, a nobleman who gives up his comfortable life on land to live a life of crime at sea. However, he wasn’t exactly born in Swashbuckle, which leads to a rowdy crew, encounters with naval warships, and eventually an encounter with Taika Waititi’s Blackbeard.
Coincidentally, Blackbeard develops feelings for Stede, and the two eventually fall in love. Love is hard though, and the first season of Our Flag Means Death ended with some heartache and a lot of misunderstandings. Our flag means Death Season 2 release date
We have no information on when the second season of Our Flag Means Death will be available to you scallywags. However, it is good news that we can expect a second season. With the message ‘Season 2 is officially going to sail’, the official reports HBO max Twitter account informed their followers about the renewal in 2022. The release of the comedy series is scheduled for sometime in 2023.
Unfortunately, we still don’t have a definite date for when the new season of the hit show will hit our television screens. Waititi informed Collider in June 2022 that filming for the second season of Our Flag Means Death will begin in October, so assuming all goes according to plan, we should be able to watch it in the first half of 2023. As soon as new information becomes available , we will be sure to share it with you.

Our flag means death Season 2 plot speculation
So what awaits the reckless villain? Unfortunately, there is no official plot synopsis for season 2 of Our Flag Means Death. With all the loose ends of the first season, we can make an educated guess about what to expect from the second season. There are a lot of loose ends in the emotional and narrative parts of Season 1 of Our Flag Means Death that need to be tied up. Stede and Blackbeard had several adventures before they succeeded in circumventing the king’s law.
Blackbeard and Stede both professed their feelings for each other, but they were tragically torn apart. Blackbeard, who had fallen to the dark side after feeling abandoned, re-emerged as a terrifying tyrant. Blackbeard ended the season by setting sail for the seven seas heartbroken after stranding half of Stede’s crew. While this was going on, Stede returned “home” to his wife, who was already dating someone else and was not happy to see him again.
Even as his “wife” plots his death, Stede sets her down for some serious talk, and it is during this time that he realizes his true calling: life at sea and his undying love for Blackbeard. Together with his wife, Stede fakes his own death so that he can resume his seafaring lifestyle. Earlier we mentioned that Stede came to the aid of the stranded crew members before they resorted to cannibalism.

Our Flag Means Death Season 2 Cast
Thankfully, it looks like most of Our Flag Means Death’s primary cast will be returning for the show’s second season. This means that Taika Waititi will reprise his role as Edward Teach, aka Blackbeard, and Rhys Darby will reprise his role as Stede Bonnet.
Regular cast members, including Ewen Bremner as Nathaniel Buttons and Samson Kayo as Oluwande Boodhari, also return. As for the bad guys, we know that Con O’Neill will return as Izzy, who whispers in Blackbeard’s ear, and Leslie Jones will return as the Spanish Jackie, the most formidable pirate commander with her 19 husbands.
Even though Blackbeard jettisoned Nathan Foad in the first season, fans can still look forward to seeing him again in the role of Lucius Spriggs. So in the next episode, we hope to learn how the pirate was spared and what he’s up to. The second season of Our Flag Means Death will feature the following actors and actresses:

The actor who played Blackbeard’s crewmate in the first season, Guz Khan, will not be returning. The actor said on Twitter that he would not be appearing as his pirate character in the upcoming film due to various production and industry-related reasons. At this point, it’s unknown if the ensemble will be drastically downsized this time around (a la Khan) or if a new supporting cast will be introduced.
