We’re bringing Apple TV+ back to the Rock for round two. Deadline reports that the Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock follow-up season has been picked up by the streaming service and will be much bigger than the first.

The return of the critically acclaimed children’s series sees the addition of several notable actors, including Academy Award winner Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) and Emmy winners Brett Goldstein (Ted Lasso) and Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek).

Daveed Diggs (Hamilton), who made his rock debut last season and appeared in the Christmas special “Night of the Lights,” has been nominated for an Emmy and returns. Filming for Season 2 of the rebooted series has already begun in Calgary, Canada.

In Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock, the Fraggles goboMokey, Wembley, Boober and Red reunite with their friends the Doozers and the Gorgs for new adventures in the world of Jim Henson’s classic musical comedy puppet show.

Since big changes will affect everyone at the Rock, Season 2 should bring these three communities even closer together. As they learn to trust each other, Fraggle Rock will have a brighter future than in the past. The synopsis guarantees more comedy, music and dance as their journey progresses.

Lisa Henson, Halle Stanford, John Tartaglia, Alex Cuthbertson and Matt Fusfeld created and produced the series for The Jim Henson Company. Guest stars like Patty LabelleKenan Thompson, Ed Helms, Cynthia Erivo, Diggs and the Foo Fighters joined the voices of regulars Tartaglia, Karen Prell, Dave Goelz, Donna Kimball and Jordan Lockhart in Season 1.

However, Season 2 features some notable actors and actresses. Goldstein previously posted a video of him portraying The Muppets Christmas Carol in less than seven minutes, and DeBose showed her blowjob on screen in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story and in the musical comedy series Schmigadoon! O’Hara is also not to be underestimated; she has been critically acclaimed for her performance in The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock is one of Apple’s Big Children’s Series successes

For Apple, the return to rock has paid off so far. Back to the Rock has been nominated for four awards at the inaugural Children’s & Family Emmys and won the Sentinel Award for Outstanding Children’s Programming for its success in recreating the magic of the original series.
