With an exciting debut trailer, Universal has opened the curtain on ‘Fast X’, kicking off the marketing campaign for the tenth installment in the popular ‘Fast & Furious’ series.
Heading up the group of recent cast additions are Brie Larson and Jason Momoa. Dante is a villain who plays Momoa. Tess is a brand new character that Larson plays. Rita Moreno, Michael Rooker, Daniela Melchior, Alan Ritchson and other newcomers to the series are Rita Moreno.
Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang and Scott Eastwood return for the franchise’s tenth appearance.
Other returning cast members include Charlize Theron’s ultimate villain Cipher, John Cena’s Jakob Toretto, Helen Mirren’s Magdalene “Queenie” Ellmanson-Shaw, and Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw.
The risk that Dom and his group of street racers will experience as “the end of the road begins” is depicted in the trailer. Their latest enemy is Dante, played by Momoa, and it turns out the biker-riding villain has connections to the “Fast Five” from 2011.
Remember the time when Dom and Brian (Paul Walker) chased drug kingpin Hernan Reyes around Rio de Janeiro in their Dodge Chargers while strapped to a bank vault? After all, Dante does, as the high-octane theft ruined his life. He has spent the past 12 years devising a strategy to exact retaliation. He is the son of Reyes.
Dante now threatens to split up the ‘Fast’ family by exploiting Dom’s greatest concern: losing someone he cares about. The patriarch of the Toretto family is about to lose a lot. At the end of “F9: The Fast Saga”, he was reunited with his long-lost brother Jakob.
He also raises his child, young Brian (Leo Abuelo Perry), with Letty (Michelle Rodriguez). Rita Moreno is introduced in the video as Dom’s grandmother. According to the official storyline summary for the film, Dante’s plot will spread Dom’s family from Los Angeles to the Catacombs of Rome, from Brazil to London, and from Portugal to Antarctica.
Old opponents will return and new ones will be formed. However, everything is put into perspective when Dom discovers that Dante’s ultimate victim is his own 8-year-old child. The “Rogue Agent of the Agency,” played by Tess in Larson, appears to be on the side of the Torettos.
The ‘Captain Marvel’ actor also makes the total of Oscar-winning actors and actresses in the franchise to four (with Moreno, Charlie Theron, and Helen Mirren). Aimes, the new head of the Agency, is played by Richtson (“Reacher”), who “doesn’t retain the same affinity for Dom’s group as his predecessor, Mr. Nobody.”
Melchior, a Brazilian street racer who appears in “The Suicide Squad,” has a “strong connection” to Dom’s history. In addition, Statham’s former adversary turned ally Deckard Shaw returns in “Fast X trailerwhere he is forced to face the reality that he tried to kill Kang’s Han (in a reunion alluded to at the end of “F9”).
Last but not least, the previews tease a significant brawl between Theron’s Cipher and Rodriguez’s Letty, with the action stars throwing blows in what appears to be an epic showdown.
