Fans of “Demon Slayer” who feared the end of Tanjiro and Nezuko (and everyone else) can relax, a third season is on its way. In May 2022, the second season of the hugely popular anime franchise came to a close with a spectacular conclusion featuring some of the most breathtaking Demon Slayer action sequences to date.

The spin-off/sequel Demon Slayer: Mugen Train had a hugely successful year, giving Demon Slayer a top year overall. When it was released in 2020, Mugen Train quickly became the highest-grossing Japanese film of all time, breaking records around the world.

What will happen next in Tanjiro and the Hashira Corps’ battle against Muzan Kibutsuji now that the dust has settled in the entertainment district? Everything we know about the third season of “Demon Slayer” is below.

Demon Slayer Season 3 Possible Release Date

The negative news comes first. We expect a similar time lapse between seasons three and four of Demon Slayer as there was between seasons one and two and a half and two and a half years.

Since a release date for the third season of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village has not yet been revealed, we can only speculate that it will premiere sometime in Fall 2023. The official Demon Slayer account tweeted the first teaser image for the upcoming third season in February 2022, so that was fantastic news.

SiliconEra reports that new details will be revealed on December 10 following the Japanese television premiere of the Mugen Train adaptation of the Demon Slayer manga. Check back for the big reveal when we’ve updated this page with the latest information.

Demon Slayer Season 3 Cast

While Demon Slayer’s third season hasn’t been announced yet, we can expect the majority of the cast from the first two seasons to return.

Both Muichiro Tokito (playing Mist Hashira) and Mitsuri Kanroji (playing Love Hashira) return for their second appearance since being introduced in the twenty-first episode of the first season. Therefore, I present to you the Japanese and English voice artists for all main characters in Demon Slayer:

• Tanjiro Kamado – Natsuki Hanae / Zach Aguilar (English)
• Nezuko Kamado – Akari Kitô / Abby Trott (English)
• Inosuke Hashibira – Yoshitsugu Matsuoka / Bryce Papenbrook (English)
• Zenitsu Agatsuma – Hiro Shimono / Aleks Le (English)
• Muzan Kibutsuji – Toshihiko Seki / Greg Chun (English)
• Kagaya Ubuyashiki – Toshiyuki Morikawa / Matthew Mercer (English)
• Water Hashira, Giyu Tomioka – Takahiro Sakurai / Johnny Yong Bosch (English)
• Love Hashira, Matsuri Kanroji – Kana Hanazawa / Kira Buckland (English)
• Mist Hashira, Muichiro Tokito – Kengo Kawanishi / Griffin Burns (English)
• Flower Hashira, Kanae Kocho – Ai Kayano / Bridget Hoffman (English)
• Tsuguko Kanao Tsuyuri – Reina Ueda / Brianna Knickerbocker (English)

Director Haruo Sotozaki, character designer Akira Matsushima and original plot head Koyoharu Gotoge will all return.

Demon Slayer season 3 plot

The ninth arc of the original manga, titled “Swordsmith village”, will serve as inspiration for the season three story. Note that the Demon Slayer manga adaptation ended in 2020, giving viewers a rare opportunity to learn (roughly) what’s in store for Tanjiro and company in the years to come.

The events of the Entertainment District arc, which ended with Tanjiro and Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui’s victory over the demon twins Gyutaro and Daki, are immediately followed by the events of the Swordsmith Village arc.

Luckily for Tanjiro, his demon-killing blade was the only permanent fatality in this epic battle. In the upcoming third season of Demon Slayer, Tanjiro will visit the Swordsmith Village to have Hotaru Haganezuka repair his sword.

Tanjiro and company will undoubtedly encounter an army of demons during their stay (including an Upper-Rank Six that splits into multiple bodies). Lucky for us, Muichiro Tokito, aka Mist Hashira, steps in to handle the situation.

The reason why Satoshi Hino (RengokuDemon)’s Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba was so popular all over the world (via AnimeNewsNetwork). I am very happy to discover that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and other Japanese animation works have found fans all over the world.

Some themes in this anime that everyone can connect with our family care, the value of life and living life to the fullest. The thought that all of humanity has united in this way and found common ground fills me with gratitude. Season three will continue to expand on these key ideas if it hopes to continue the show’s success.

Demon Slayer season 3 trailer

The season 3 teaser was released in April 2022 by Crunchyroll and production company Ufotable (sort of). Calling it a trailer might be going a little too far though, as it essentially serves as a recap of the series so far, walking you through the highlights of seasons 1 and 2.

The most notable is the use of an important (old) video with the Mist and Love Hashiras, who will play a crucial role in the upcoming third season. If Demon Slayer’s third season airs in the second half of 2023, as it did with the previous two, a full trailer would likely be released in June of that year, as was the case with the previous two seasons. Keep your eyes open.

Demon Slayer Season 3: Where Can I Watch It?

Ufotable and Crunchyroll announced earlier in 2022 that the third season of Demon Slayer would be available to watch on the service upon its premiere. Seasons one and two of Demon Slayer were made available through the service to fans around the world in both subtitled and dubbed formats, with the English dub debuting approximately four weeks after the Japanese broadcast.

The first season of “Demon Slayer” premiered in late 2019, while season two ran from “October 2021 to April 2022”. A monthly ‘fan’ membership on Crunchyroll costs £6.50, or $7.99 in the US, while a ‘Mega fan’ membership costs £8.99 or $9.99 in the US.

Japan, India, Australia, Canada, France and Brazil are among the countries where you can watch the first season of Demon Slayer on Netflix. View the entire catalog here. You can stream Demon Slayer on both Crunchyroll and Netflix.
