Anita Pointer Cause of Death: Pointer Sisters member died at age 74

Anita Pointer passed away. The singer of the Pointer Sisters in the 1970s and 1980s died in Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve. She turned 74 years old.

Roger Neal, who worked for Anita, said she died with her family by her side. Her other sister, June, died in 2006, and her sister Bonnie, who co-founded the band with her in the late 1960s, died in 2020.

In an emotional statement, her family said: “We are very saddened by Anita’s death, but we are comforted by the fact that she is now at peace with her daughter Jada and her sisters June and Bonnie.”

Because Anita is “there,” they said, Heaven is now a “beautiful, beautiful place.” Their 1973 song “Jada” was about Anita’s daughter Jada. Jada died of pancreatic cancer in 2003. After Jada died, Anita raised Roxie, her only grandchild.

Bonnie and June Pointer formed The Pointer Sisters as a duo in 1969. Anita Pointer later joined the group. Before sister Ruth transformed the group into a quartet in 1972, just as they were reaching their commercial peak, they were a trio.

It is said that the talented sisters learned to sing at the church in Oakland, California, where their father was a pastor. “Sure We Can”, their first hit, was on their first album, which was released in 1973.
