Authorities in Louisiana said a neighbor’s pit bull entered the yard of a 7-year-old girl’s home and beat her to death.
According to police records obtained by the attorney, Sadie Davila was playing outside the East Baton Rouge Parish residence at 6:30 p.m. Friday when the dog stormed into the grounds and “viciously attacked her.”
The dog was beaten with a cane by a family member to drive it away, but the attack dog was unaffected.
The first grader was taken to hospital with a significant head injury and numerous dog bites on her face. She later died of her injuries, according to police.

Woodlawn Elementary, Sadie’s former school, described her as a little girl who was “blooming in the dawn of her life.”
“Sadie was fierce and feisty, but she was also tenderhearted and kind,” her teacher, Grace Feucht, said in a statement. “Every time she came in, she brought energy and joy to my classroom. She was fearless and sang her heart out to her classmates.
According to the complaint, investigators discovered the dog with blood around its lips and face after the event. In Sadie’s garden, “a considerable amountof blood was found.

Erick Lopez, the owner of the dog, admitted to police that he was not home during the incident and regularly lets the dog run loose in the neighborhood. The documents revealed that there are no gates or walls around the 20-year-old house, which is about 500 feet from the scene of Sadie’s murder.
