On Saturday, a navvies at Montgomery Regional Airport in Alabama died in a horrific freak accident when he was “swallowed in the engine” of an American Airlines jet.

“We are saddened to hear of the tragic loss of an AA/Piedmont Airlines team member. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time,” Wade A. Davis, the airport’s executive director, said in a statement. .
The airport closed immediately after the accident and reopened on Saturday evening. The incident is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Perspiration Safety Board. The identity of the employee was not immediately disclosed.
