Dax Tejera, father of two girls and executive producer of This Week on ABC, has passed away at the age of 37. The Hollywood Reporter says Teira passed away suddenly on Friday of a heart attack.
The news was shared with staff in a memo from ABC News president Kim Godwin. “As an EP of ‘This Week with George Stephanopoulos,’ Dax’s energy, passion and love for that show, ABC News and you shined every Sunday morning. That same love was extended to his precious girls,’ Godwin wrote.
“Our thoughts are with his wife, Veronica, the couple’s two young daughters and the entire Tejera family” The Hollywood Reporter says Tejera’s job with the program started just before the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
Take a look at:
This was three years after he joined ABC news as a senior producer in 2017. Prior to that, he was an executive producer for Jorge Ramos’ show on Fusion and a producer at MSNBC. Tejera is survived by his wife Veronica and two young daughters, Ella, who is 5 months old, and Sofia, who is 2 years old.
In his latest Instagram post, he showed off a photo of himself with President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, as well as a few family photos, including one of his daughters kissing another.
His youngest daughter was born in July this year and Sofia will be back in November 2020. “Such a heartbreaking day for all of us at @abcnews Dax Tejera was not only the smartest – most compassionate – executive producer I’ve ever worked with, he was also a dear friend,” wrote John Quiñones, one of many ABC family members who honored Tejera on Twitter.

MSNBC anchor José Daz-Balart said Dax was a force of enthusiasm, intelligence and passion. “He was a real civil servant. I had the privilege of knowing and working with him. QEPD amigo, an abrazo infinite.”
