The Witcher: Blood Origin has a total of how many episodes?

The Witcher: Blood Origin was intended to be an epic tale of the Conjunction of the Spheres and the birth of the first witcher, two of the most pivotal events in the history of the universe. It has some connections, but that’s not its primary focus. Fans may be more surprised by the fact that the Netflix miniseries was only four episodes long than by the actual excellence of the series.

Since it was first announced that the show would only consist of six episodes, this is not so shocking. It is true that many have been written, and it is also possible that many have been murdered. Showrunners Declan de Barra and Lauren S. Hissrich originally planned six episodes, but eventually came to the conclusion that they could do with less. With such a wide open prequel idea, ‘We could do anything we wanted’ Barra said Polygon. We wanted to create a story that could stand on its own, like a two-movie trilogy.

So because we had complete creative freedom, we filmed whatever we wanted. Then we wondered in the cutting room: “OK, what’s the best version of this sandwich we can make?” The best possible sandwich makes you think, “That was not too much and not too little.” The spices on the sauce were perfect. So that’s what we wanted to do.

Despite the fact that the producers wanted to make the program “the most delicious sandwich,” they usually avoided discussing the most intriguing aspects of the story element or the roots of the world the show was based on. Given how much material has been left unexplored, it’s possible the Witcher world will revisit this era and dedicate more than four episodes to it next time around.

Netflix has been less candid about when “next time” might happen. Based on the available information, Season 2 of Blood Origin is not in the cards. It would take a new The Witcher spin-off to revisit these people and the events immediately following the Conjunction of the Spheres.

Centered on the Conjunction of the Spheres and the birth of the first witcher, The Witcher: Blood Origin was intended to be a sprawling saga. It’s connected to it in a number of ways, but that’s not really its main purpose. The brevity of the Netflix miniseries may come as more of a shock to viewers than the high quality of the show.
