The Pentaverate season 2: In his new Netflix comedy The Pentaverate, which premiered on May 5, Mike Myers returned to his origins by portraying different characters. The fact that the show hasn’t generated much buzz after a week on the platform suggests that no season 2 is in the works. Still, as it turns out, the project was always intended to be a limited series, despite speculation to the contrary by other people.
Six episodes of the new comedy series arrived May 5, in which a Canadian journalist broke in over his neck while investigating a mysterious conspiracy group called The Pentaverate, which resembles groups like The Illuminati.
Why isn’t The Pentaverate returning for Season 2?
The Pentaverate was intended and made as a limited series, so there will be no season 2 on Netflix. That’s not to say that more couldn’t be done if the show becomes a hit overnight, but that wasn’t the intention in this case.
If we go back and look at all of Netflix’s press releases for the show (including those for the trades), we can see that, at least early in development, they all refer to the show as a limited series. The program was explicitly called a “half-hour comedy limited series” by Deadline in June 2021. It is important to note that later stories omitted the fact that it is a limited series.
Since Netflix describes the show as “season 1” rather than a “limited series” as most of the other miniseries on the service do, this seems to be where most of the confusion is. According to reports, “At least there are plans to continue the story”, although this is not true.
Recently, Netflix has referenced some of their limited series as “event” titles, and it turned out that was the case with this one. The release was described as a “comedy series event” in the teaser. Of course, the series ends nicely, so a second season is not necessary. The Pentaverate, now known as The Septaverate, was defeated by our hero Ken Scarborough before the end of Season 1. There are currently seven members instead of fivea substantial adjustment that they managed to make.

How successful is the Pentaverate on Netflix?
The Pentaverate did poorly on Netflix and received a mixed response from viewers and critics. It has a dismal 21% critic approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, a 61 percent viewership rating, and a IMDb rating of 6.1/10. During the first launch week, from May 2 to May 8, the show failed to appear in the top 10 global Netflix lists and attracted less than 10.85 million hours of views.
It managed to enter the top 10 charts in the United States and United Kingdom for just one day. However, the show spent eight days on the charts in Canada.

Since the show’s debut, there’s been no word on a season two. It seems that there are at least plans to continue the story. When a Netflix show is only intended to be a one-off, it is typically marketed as a “limited series.”
Since the episodes of The Pentaverate are referred to as “season one,” this is not the case. It is therefore reasonable to conclude that there is at least a plan to monitor the development of the story while we wait for the official word. When we know more, we’ll keep you posted.
