Police say at least 10 people were injured in a drive-by shooting in Lakeland, Florida, on Monday afternoon, and two of them are in critical condition.
Lakeland Police Chief Sam Taylor said a dark blue four-door Nissan sedan drove to the scene of the shooting.
“The vehicle slowed down, did not stop and the four windows went down. It appeared to be occupied by four gunmen in the vehicle.”
– said Taylor.
“They started firing from all four windows of the vehicle, firing at men on both sides.”
Taylor told reporters Monday night that eight of the injured have no injuries that could kill them. Only three people were taken to hospital by emergency services and their ages ranged from 20 to 35 years old.
Recently, there have been more mass shootings in the country, which you can read about here:
He said the others were taken in private cars. The police chief said they think it was planned. The Nissan, which had temporary tags on, drove off quickly, and Taylor said police were there “I am now actively looking for that vehicle.”
“We will be out most of the night trying to find out who these individuals are in the vehicle”
– said Taylor.
Taylor says police are looking for at least four men who may have hid their faces. He asked people in the area to call if they had information that could help the investigation.

On Monday, police announced a $5,000 reward in conjunction with Heartland Crime Stoppers Florida for information leading to the identification and arrest of those responsible for the shooting.
After discovering a “quantity” of marijuana at the scene, authorities believe –
“there was a sale of narcotics or marijuana going on at the time”
– as Taylor said.
“Whether that is significant or related is not known.”
The chief said that in his 34 years with the department he had never seen so many people shot at once.
“This is not happening in Lakeland”
– said Taylor.
