When 23-year-old Elena Rybakina won Wimbledon in 2022, she made Kazakhstani history as the first player from the country to win a Grand Slam tournament. In addition, she was the first Kazakh in the top 15 to participate in a major tournament final. All of her success in 2022 happened when she was a member of the All-England Club.
She advanced to the final by winning the semifinal against defending champion Simona Halep in straight sets. Halep suffered her first Wimbledon defeat since 2018. In her short career, Rybakina has already won three WTA titles and four ITF titles. They say that because of her height she can hit the bull’s eye with her aces.
She has had one of the best records on the WTA Tour in recent years. After making it to the last eight at the 2021 French Open, she received widespread recognition. Since then she has been steadily climbing the ranks to take her rightful place among the elite players.

Who is Elena Rybakina’s coach?
Rybakina has been working with coach Stefano Vukov since 2019. As a former tennis player from Croatia, he mainly participated in ITF tournaments. Vukov ended his career with 12 tournament victories. According to the history of the ATP Tourhis highest ever singles ranking was #1122.
Vukov’s piece is a great leap forward from Rybakina’s. Thanks to him, she was able to reach her full potential and beat some of the world’s best players to win Wimbledon in 2022. When she was coached by Andrei Chesnokov, who did not accompany her on trips, she finished outside the top 200.
Vukov was not bothered by this problem and Rybakina moved up 170 places in just one year to enter the Top 30. Although she was born in Moscow, Rybakina now represents Kazakhstan in hopes of getting more financial support for her career. Rybakina’s success at the Tour proves that the Kazakh tennis association’s financial support was well placed.

Ukraine’s status as a war zone between Russia and Russia has made Rybakina an intriguing story for Western media. The focus was less on her achievements and more on her nationality, which is a shame. Despite her win at Wimbledon, she dropped in the rankings. So she was rarely a top contender. But after a strong performance at the 2023 Australian Open, she finally cracked the top ten.
