2 people have been sent to hospital after colliding with a train in San Bernardino

Following an accident that occurred Wednesday in San Bernardino involving a Metrolink train, two passengers are currently in serious condition. According to the San Bernardino Police Department, the accident occurred on Rancho Avenue while the victims were driving their pickup trucks on the tracks. They were heading west.

More than 30 people were on board the train when it crashed, authorities said. After the impact, the vehicle was left twisted and debris scattered across the track, as can be seen in footage taken at the scene. The truck driver was reportedly traveling at an “unsafe speed” east toward the railways, officers said.

According to the authorities, the motorist

“failed to stop in front of the guard’s crossing arm and crashed into the Metrolink train traveling east.”

According to authorities, both the driver of the truck and the passenger were taken to a nearby hospital, where they are both currently listed in critical condition. After the collision, officials stated that only one passenger on the Metrolink train suffered minor injuries.
